Although Downtown East cinema is not showing 『20th Century Boys Chapter 2-The Last Hope(最後の希望）』, it does not stop “movie freak” like us from chasing it…..we go Tampines Mall to catch it at 910pm last Friday (10 July ‘09)……been chasing this 20th Century Boys (20世紀少年) since its chapter 1 start showing last year ‘08 …..damn eager to find out who is this “Friend” ? 他到底是谁?？
However watch til the end of the movie (duration is 140 mins long, almost midnite then end) we still can’t find out this “Friend” is who… All those that we have suspected during the movie, all slowly unfolded & turn out to be wrong guess……when we still cracking our brain trying to figure out who will be the “Friend” be, cinema screen display there will be a final 3rd chapter for it which is on 29 Aug 09….Arghzz
Doing a flash back to chapter 1, In 1969, Kenji and his very close frens: Otcho (Shōgun), Maruo, Yoshitsune, Keroyon,build a secret base, later other frens Yukij, Donkey, Monchan & Fukubei join them burying The Book of Prophecies (a fictional story of the future) written
Then Donkey died in mysterious circumstances & Kenji, Maruo, Yoshitsune, Keroyon & Monchan got find the The Book of Prophecies they have buried in the Vacant lot of their childhood base
Later Kenji & six of his frens: Otcho(Shōgun), Maruo, Yoshitsune, Yukij, Monchan, Fukubei fight together against the robot in part 1 (Keroyon can’t join due to his restaurant business )
suspect left may be either Sadakiyo (guy that wear a mask and always secretly peep them outside the secret base) coz “Friend” keep wearing the same mask in chapter 1
Then while watching this chapter 2, Yamane (the so –called smart one who love lab) disclosed that he had create a very powerful chemical with “Friend” to kill people, both of them together with Sadakiyo have written a “New Book of Prophecies”.
After that Yamane kena killed by gun shot & Sadakiyo commited suicide in year 2015 ( regret to help friend) & before Sadakiyo died he disclose he has killed Monchan…
We “绞尽脑汁”still can’t figure out….who this “Friend” is….
Maybe we have missed out someone or the “Friend” is not inside the 9 persons…. or maybe we abit confuse who is who liao as chapter 1 been shown one year ago….the few we can really remember very well is : Kenji, Yukij, Shogun, Kanna (Kenji’s niece), Donkey……
Out of great curosity,I re-watch chapter 1 as really eager to figure out exactly who are each among the 9 inside the picture, managed to get a bigger picture below & review
& feel this time nine kids are :
(front row from left to right): Donkey, Maruo, Kenji, Yoshitsune, Monchan
(2nd row from left to right): Konchi, Otcho, Yukij & Keroyon
coz the one that I initial though is Fukubei don’t look like his kid look at chapter 1 or his kid photo at its movie official website, indeed look more like Konchi which were with Maruo, Monchan, Keroyon when Donkey go switch on the pump at the school lab when Monchan begged him to help (as afraid to see the ghost of a died student at the lab) but as Konchi was seldom been mentioned as I’ve almost missed him out….
Hmmm, sudden Fukubei become very suspicious to me liao….maybe he purposely appear during the school gathering & help to fight against the robot to clear suspicion of being the “Friend”………the “Friend” with a mask which Kenji saw on the robot could be Sadakiyo that help Fukubei to “stand-in” temporary….
Anyway, this is just my own prediction & may not be correct, longing to catch the Final 3rd chapter so the truth will be out soon!, which believe it be as cool as chapter 1 & 2…
