°✿*¨☆ *★My Belated ‘09 Birthday Celebration★* ☆¨*✿°

Posted by iTorque in , , ,

As didn’t manage to celebrate my birthday during our recent Taiwan Trip, my hubby brought me to Sushi Tei for a belated dinner celebration after back few weeks back….

As he know I’m abit upset about missing the 刷刷鍋 there, he order Beef shabu Shabu Nabe (S$18)  & Zuwai Hotate Salmon Don (S$18) from the Autumn Hokkaido Promotion,

Zuwai Hotate Salmon Don  came first,  salmon slices, raw scallop & the three crab legs all very fresh, we finish just within a while…

happily waiting for ⊹◊ ◦ ◆◇ Beef shabu Shabu Nabe  ◇ ◆◦ ◊⊹ as been stated on its menu brochure, is meant for 2 ~ 3 person

But when it is served, quite disappointed as serving size feel more for one person only

& beef that comes with it also very thin(薄) & just a few slices

Overall, it tastes quite yummy, just that the beef is not as sweet as another Sushi Tei food item: Gyu Misoyaki. We guess that maybe it’s due to either different beef type used or different way the beef is marinated … it also comes with carrot, beancurd, cabbages, 金针姑 etc,  while Gyu Misoyaki  only come with beef slices, however, the soup is good & we finish drinking all as well…

Still hungry, so we order Pork Katsu Don (S$10) & Floss Ebi Sushi (S$4.50)

first time trying Pork Katsu Don at Sushi Tei, they served once been 炒好 so it’s very fresh & tasty! Rice also wet with its fragrant sauce, feel more tastier than other Pork Katsu Don sell from other places…

This Floss Ebi Sushi at the VivoCity branch, as usual is more fresh & yummy (we have tried at the China Square Central branch before but not so nice as not so fresh).

At nite we still feel abit hungry so go eat the Rochor Road beancurd ….haha

Well, last Sat, he surprised me with a belated birthday gift …

Hainanese Village Centre Market & Food Centre

Posted by iTorque in

Went to Hainanese Village Centre Market & Food Centre (located at 105 Hougang Avenue 1 Singapore 530105) for lunch during one weekend…

Managed to try foods from three famous stalls there, all at 2nd floor…

One of it is the wanton mee from this 旺角熟食 stall,

wanton mee stall

This stall every time good business & not only its wanton mee, others like 水饺面,咖喱鸡面,凤爪面 also easily sold off by 1 or 2pm, so we order its wanton mee to try

actually the wanton mee taste abit 淡,just okable but price consider quite cheap at S$2.50 (give around three wanton) compare to other places…

Another value for money is this Soon Huat Cold & Hot Dessert stall as below which is just two stalls away it,

have try their cendol & 黑糯米 before, taste quite alright & feel the “料” given is more “generous”…

cost S$2 for both of them, price consider quite cheap for S$1 per dessert (although them may not be the cheapest…. )

Another “must try” is 水粿 from this stall (unit 02-45) shown above,

shui guo

the white 水粿 is smooth & its most important “ingredient”~ the cha po (菜脯) is really tasty & yummy, cost S$1.50 for six pieces , got different price for options of 4 pieces, 8 pieces also…

⊱ 海南肉骨大虾面 ⊰

Many may have eaten this River South (Hoe Nam) prawn noodles (海南肉骨大虾面) stall located at Tai Thong Cresent before….

prawn mee stall signboard

We went to eat for lunch during one of the weekday & it’s really packed with lunch crowd….It’s a coffee shop fully taken by two stalls of River South (Hoe Nam) prawn noodles  (one for lunch, one for dinner)

好不容易 find a seat, we quickly sit down & order 大虾排骨面 ($5) to eat

pork ribs & big prawn mee

We reached abit late at around 1pm+, business is really good & by the time we order, mee pok already run out, so we choose yellow mee, dry version…

prawn mee soup

If want me to compare with prawn mee sell by Whitley Road Big Prawn Mee (威利大虾面) located at block 51 Old Airport Road Hawker Centre (which has big prawn cut into halves)….I feel this one more yummy & the soup is much nicer as I finished drinking the whole bowl of soup, but it only has two big prawns & two pork ribs….maybe because they use the pork rib to 熬 the soup longer so 汤头more 甜美…

This stall also sells different types of prawn mee (unable to capture the whole menu pinned on the stall…) eg big or small prawn with abalone clams, intestine, pig’s tail ….

 other type of mee_2

other type of mee_1 other type of mee_3

Whitley Road Big Prawn Mee we had went tried early of the year when heard is good, but quite a disappointment after trying as I feel soup not nice, prawn & mee just so so….however, as different people has different taste still many people eat there when we went that time….

My Girlfriend is an Agent 我的女友007☞

Long time never watch movies as not much nice movies recently. Finally Korean Comedy 『My Girlfriend is an Agent 我的女友007』get released on Thursday & we go catch it yesterday nite…

Lead female actress Kim Ha-Neul (金荷娜) quite a popular face which appear in Korean dramas & movies, although story line nonething new but quite hilarious that we laugh all the way throughout the movie.

Soo-Ji (cast by Kim Ha-Neul ) is a smart, beautiful & 身手敏捷 secret police agent while her ex- boyfriend, Jae-Joon (cast by Kang Ji-Kwan,姜至奂) is a rookie agent which is very clumsy, dumb & he is trying very hard to impress.

I think the super dumb character by Jae-Joon is the main factor that make this movie so funny. Can’t believe he is a police secret agent as he has many lame & stupid actions. He always ruin the plan in an very “unprofessional” way while work with Korean police group to track down the Russian crime group which going to buy a advanced “chemical lotion” which will become a very powerful weapon eventually via a Korean professor that steals for them.

There is one scene which make me laugh the loudest, due to one of his super lame actions. It’s when him hide in a corner using his mobile secretly take photo of the Russian crime head. When you thought he finally do something impressive as a agent, sudden his mobile play a cute ringing tone something like “cheers!Take the pictures” to snap the picture, this definitely exposed himself to the crime head & the dumb him reveal a nerd shocked look….

Soo-Ji is funny too, she 身手了得, many guys also can’t beat her while fighting. She is calm during mission but easily get agitated by her ex. There is one scene where the male lead make her so angry that she use a wooden hammer provided by restaurant keep hitting the lobster served. She is fierce & not a lady which you can anyhow mess with. She always forget & realise restaurant utensils, such as spoon or wooden hammer still with her when she left the restaurant. When the Russian crime head search through her handbag when she been captured by them, can see spoon, wooden hammer etc in her handbag…..

When you keep wondering who’s the police force coach for Jae-Joon & how can such a dumb student everything “follow by the book” able to graduate as a secret agent, then you realised the coach also has the same style & pattern….

Overall, a movie that can definitely cheer you up although I admit the movie is quite lame.

Our Taiwan Trip from 11 Oct till 19 Oct’09 (Part 8)

This is the last blog for our Taiwan Oct’09 trip!:p ( continuation of itinerary for 19 Oct…)

Our Itinerary:

19-Oct [Mon]

1300 – After we left the railway station, drive awhile & reach the 紫雲宮 temple, many people come here to make a pray, heard even more crowded during weekend.

zhi yun gong_1

Wah something interesting……This temple got provided a “bank counter” for people to borrow “"幸運錢" to 求財, tourist can also borrow using own national ID & need to bring back the red packet when  return the money back to temple …we pass by, can see quite alot people either queue up to borrow or return the money at the counter.

Come to this big golden chicken somewhere around the temple…….zhi yun gong_golden chicken

Need to go toilet & this is the temple most famous “竹筍造型”public toilet ~ "金筍迎客"

heard it costs around NT$40 million to build this ”seven star” bamboo-shaped luxury public toilets

visitor can enjoy the art of paintings while inside the toilet…

there is a fountain & music playing, air is filled with nice flora fragrance…….

it’s a big & grand toilet that has a very relaxing atmosphere …..

1330 – We drop by a 大排檔 near road side to have simple lunch

Order 火雞肉飯 for all to eat with dishes: 魯白菜, 筍干魯 , 味噌汤, 紫菜蛋花湯, 鮮筍湯  & two vegetables (which I don’t know their name)

simple dishes, taste not too bad, we finished all as super hungry….

1400 – proceed to area around TungHai University (東海大學) to try some famous 小吃…

1420 – go to 東海蓮心雞爪凍 to try 豆干 ,雞爪凍 & 毛豆 (sorry didn’t take any pictures of them, but can view all the food pictures from the shop website)

豆干 abit tasteless, 毛豆 quite spicy with black pepper, 雞爪凍 not bad, quite yummy (haha he see the chicken leg, don’t dare to try)

can see the fridge in the shop selling many other foods such as 牛肚, 雞肫 鴨翅 so on…

1430 – go to a  dessert shop that does not has any signboard just opposite 東海蓮心雞爪凍 to eat dessert…

at least the toilet at this dessert shop cleaner than the shop selling 雞爪凍

The dessert, 芋圓仙草凍, taste great….think 仙草 helps to bring out the taste of the yam slices (芋圓), heard from Bass & Cody this is one of the famous dessert of the shop, no wonder…

another dessert, 芋圓紅豆凍 not so nice, the yam slices (芋圓) now taste abit 淡 as the red bean unable to bring out its taste

after that then get to know the shop is called 東海豆子…

1500 – go to a big fruit store nearby to buy fruit juice to drink, quite cheap, NT$25 for a cup of 700cc water melon juice

fruits that the shop selling…

wah, see this water melon is quite big

after the drink, drive to leave this place as need to rush to buy Taiwan snacks

1530 – reach Glad embankment air delicious foods plaza (快樂堤岸~ 空中美食廣場)

quickly we walk to entrance to get in…

do our last minutes grab for Taiwan snacks to bring back home, need longer time to rush back the airport as further...

1630 – re-arrange our luggage abit before heading to Airport to check-in

1710 – check-in at Tao Yuan Airport - Terminal 1  to catch our 1910pm flight back to Singapore

2345 – home sweet home

After back in Singapore , sleep & sleep,  missed the yummy 小吃 & cooler weather there….

these are the snacks we have bought at 快樂堤岸~ 空中美食廣場

This 芋頭酥 by 阿聰師 is very expensive, so we just buy a small box (six pieces) to try, cost NT$360,  must eat within 3 days from purchase else need put in fridge to preserve longer …

specially like the 奶油酥餅 & 芋頭酥 by 阿聰師, both highly recommended by Cody & Bass respectively. other snacks such as 煎餅,太陽餅, 花生酥 average, think 太陽餅, 花生酥 we bought at 九份during previous trip taste nicer…

Overall a very nice trip with our dear friends, Bass & Cody again!
